Safety and house rules

Frenday is where you hire someone to come along, by the hour: to a cafe, a run, a market, a temple, a film, or as your plus-one at something you'd rather not attend alone. The people you hire are ordinary people, students, office workers, shop owners, who set their own rate and their own rules. Frenday is not a dating app, not a "girlfriend experience", and not a place for anything beyond what friends do together. If that's what you're looking for, it isn't here.

1. Daytime, public places only

   Every meetup within06:00–21:00

   Every meetup on Frenday happens in a public place: cafes, malls, parks, markets, temples, museums, restaurants, gyms, sports grounds. Meetups start no earlier than 06:00 and end by 21:00. No homes, condos, hotel rooms or private rooms of any kind, and no nightlife venues. Each companion can set stricter rules than these, such as finishing by 20:00 or avoiding any venue that serves alcohol, and their rules always win.

2. Screening, and the right to say no

   Every companion screens every request personally. Before accepting they may ask your name, a social profile, your plan, or anything else they consider necessary. They can decline without giving a reason, and they can end a meetup early if they feel unsafe, without explaining. You have the same right. If a meetup doesn't feel right, say so and part ways. Nobody owes anybody an explanation.

3. Conduct

   Treat your companion like a friend you'd want to see again. Show up on time, pay what was agreed, don't touch them beyond what their rules allow, don't ask for what their profile says they don't do, don't message them after the meetup unless invited, don't photograph them without asking, and don't turn up drunk. A romantic or sexual request, joking or not, gets you removed from Frenday immediately. In return, companions show up on time, stay present rather than on their phone, and don't ask for more money than was agreed.

4. Money

   The rate on a profile is the hourly rate the companion set themselves, with a minimum number of hours. For now you pay them directly at the end of the meetup, cash or transfer, as you agree between you. Frenday does not yet take deposits, hold payments, or charge a fee. Costs during the meetup, such as food, tickets and transport, are yours, which is the custom in this work, unless the profile says otherwise. Nobody can give you a discount except the companion themselves. The chat assistant can't.

5. 20 and over only

   Customers and companions must be 20 or over, the age of legal majority in Thailand, not 18. We set it above the lowest legal line on purpose: this work involves strangers and money. Before anyone's page goes live we speak with them ourselves, through the account that page links to, and they send or approve the photo and the words on it. We do not collect ID cards or passports. A companion may ask to see a customer's ID before a first meetup.

6. If something goes wrong

   If something wasn't right, big or small, tell us on Report a problem, or write to owner@paiduay.local, whether you were hiring or being hired. A person reads every report within one working day (Mon–Fri 09–18). If you feel unsafe during a meetup, leave the situation first and tell us afterwards. You can always call 191. A page reported as not being the person on it is hidden within 24 hours, and checked afterwards. A companion who breaks these rules has their page taken down. For customers we have no system yet that blocks someone across every profile: what we can do is tell the companions concerned and refuse the next request. We keep every chat and every request on record, so when something happens we can look back at exactly what was said.

7. The numbers we count

   We count taps, not people: how many times someone tapped a link on a page, and how many times that page was opened. That is all. No cookies, nothing that follows you to other sites, and we do not keep your IP address. A page's numbers are seen by the person whose page it is, and by us who run the site. Visitors never see them, and they rank nobody. After 90 days we delete them.
